Dungeons and Dragons: The Gathering

I doubt many people have missed the fact that Dungeons and Dragons is going to be the basis for the next set of Magic: The Gathering. I’ve recently jumped on a project to add some more Magic content to to D&D with a product on DMsGuild, and it’s got me revisiting some old cards from a game I’ve played on and off for about 20 years (a little less time than I’ve played D&D).

It’s also given me the chance to dig deeper into the already produced Magic content in D&D – namely Guildmaster’s Guide to Ravnica and Mythic Odysseys of Theros. I gave the latter a longer look previously, when I was working on my favour mechanic for group patrons, so taking in Ravnica was the priority here.

And, because I played during the release of the original Ravnica cards, but skipped Theros and came in late for it, it was also a bit of a trip down memory lane, and let me revisit some cards and ideas from about fifteen years ago (when did that happen?) that might not have made it into the D&D rules.

So where does this leave me? Hopefully working on a fun project that I can talk about some more next month. We’re still in the early phases but I’m happy with what I’ve come up with so far.
It’s also made me think more about Magic: the Gathering, and how I’ve still not put all of my decks into that section of this website!
