Late to the party: RPGaDay 2019 prompt 11

“Examine”

So, since we’re in 2020 and not 2019, we can look at some issues with a bit more information.
In the last few days, I’ve been reading a lot about removing racial modifiers from D&D.

It’s not a new idea either, it’s been around for a long time.
A reallllly long time.

I get why it’s coming up so much now. Honestly, it’s about time. It’s one of the big holdovers that can really mess with a game, and even use of race and class has been confusing to beginners at my table before.
My halfling is a big damn hero, why shouldn’t he get to rage as long as the half-orc? My goblin fey-pact warlock (what happened there?!) is played much more charming than the half-elf rogue, but my modifiers don’t show that.

I think I’ll be bringing this up in my next Session Zero and seeing how people want to handle it.
I’d be very interested in pulling stuff into classes and backgrounds, with races sticking with abilities (Elven weapon training is still an odd sticking point, but I can think of several ways to make it work).
