So, it seems like everyone has darkvision?
It’s a complaint I’ve seen people bring up a lot. At this stage, off the top of my head, Humans and Halflings don’t have it, but most people do.
So… how do we beat the complaint? There’s options, certainly.
Do I want to make the game harder? Maybe.
I’m going to start with the biggest offender in my opinion – Elves.
Elves are great, and have some great abilities, but do they all need to be able to see in the dark? Do High Elves need to? Drow, yes. Wood Elves, sure. But High Elves?
Eladrin? Maybe only in their Winter aspect.
Fire Genasi do, but see in shades of red. Water Genasi don’t, but can breathe underwater… where it gets dark…
There’s a lot to be said about making darkvision apply to fewer peoples, even if often it changes very little about the game.
Still though, something to think on.
