I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of Augmented Reality as viewed through a set of shades.
Way back in the before, in the ancient times, the idea of mirrorshades was just to hide one’s eyes from view, but gradually shades and spex innovated.
We had Google Glass for a little while. When’s the last time we thought about that? I remember at the time reading some cyberpunk fictions and seeing the prototypes on the news and having my mind blown.
The last time I really thought about spex (as I prefer to think of them since I have a glasses prescription and my sunglasses are prescription anyway) was way back in 2012.
The idea that a lot of that momentum is gone is sad.
Still, at least we have Ryan Reynolds in Free Guy to look forward to. Maybe there will be a bit of a revival after that brief bit of fantasy.
